The UK’s newest national digital radio station has closed down. theJazz was launched a little over a year ago on Christmas Day 2006 and came off-air at 23:59 on 31st March. In its brief life it attracted an audience of over a third of a million listeners. Attempts were made to find a buyer after GCap Media announced that it wanted to exit the station six weeks ago, but these proved unsuccessful.
In a statement on its website, theJazz thanked listeners for all their good wishes and the warm, kind words in support of the station. The website added “We all very touched that you have enjoyed what you have heard and that the station has made a difference to your lives.”
